Our highly skilled investigators have over 80 years of combined experience and have each investigated hundreds, if not thousands, of fires from small personal property losses, to large industrial and commercial losses. Each scene is thoroughly documented and digitally photographed with the possibility of litigation always in mind.
An explosion scene requires specific knowledge and many times necessitates additional resources for processing the loss. Explosion investigators at SFI have extensive experience handling explosion losses augmented with advanced knowledge of gas-fueled systems and appliances.
From the excavation of a large debris field to the challenges of sorting and collecting significant evidence for further analysis and testing in our evidence processing facility, SFI has the know-how and resources to adequately and systematically process each and every scene.
Motor vehicle fires pose a very specific challenge to fire and explosion investigators because of ever-evolving sources of ignition and large quantities of normally present fuel loads. Shand fire investigators are all Certified Vehicle Fire Investigators with experience conducting origin and cause investigations involving automobiles, motorcycles, buses, recreation vehicles, and heavy equipment.
Shand Forensic Investigations also offers a secured, climate-controlled storage facility, where even large vehicles can be stored, and examinations can be conducted out of the elements.
The preservation of evidence related to the origin and cause of fires and explosions, begins during fire extinguishment and does not end until the case is settled or closed. We at Shand Forensic Investigations understand the importance of evidence collection and preservation. Our business is housed in a 6,000 square foot facility with approximately 4,000 square feet devoted to evidence storage and examination areas.
Our experience with large scale fire loss investigations makes us well equipped to handle your case, whether it be large or small. Our experts will coordinate and work with other interested parties to ensure the fire scene and evidence are properly and carefully processed, documented, and preserved until further testing is deemed necessary.
Shand Forensic Investigations is equipped to handle all types of product failure review and evaluation in order to determine the association to the cause of fires. Whether we collect the evidence on-site or you have it shipped to our facility, analysis and testing is completed at our well-appointed in-house laboratory. Examinations of gas and electrical appliances, automobiles, and all types of electrical components are conducted.
If a particular product or appliance is suspected of causing a fire or water loss, potential third-party interest is identified prior to any destructive testing. Thorough analysis and testing by a qualified engineer is then conducted. Recall information and research is also completed through national databases to determine if prior-documented problems exist.
The experts at Shand Forensic Investigations have the specialized knowledge and training it takes to assist clients in the pursuit, or the defense, of liability claims. Over the years, our work has benefited our clients through the recovery of many thousands, if not millions of dollars. All of our fire investigators have courtroom experience, and each fire is investigated keeping the possibility of litigation in mind. By documenting our unbiased expert opinions, recording the details surrounding each case concisely and thoroughly, our investigations can make a huge difference in the outcome of your case.
